Mythology tells us Icarus escaped from Crete on wax and feather wings. They melted when he drew too close to the sun, he fell to his death and was washed ashore. Englishman Draper's 1889 work, his favorite, depicts the mourning of Icarus by a trio of beautiful sea nymphs. Our authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. Our replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward this beautiful image.
